Could ESPN Be The Next Media Company To Launch a Sportsbook?
The modern sports world seems to be inundated with the trend of sports betting, with nearly every major outlet launching coverage on the thriving industry; could ESPN be the next media company to launch a sportsbook?
Sources have recently spoken of the worldwide leader in sports, ESPN, and their commitment to coverage of the worldwide phenomenon that has become sports betting; noting the company is prepared to go “All In.”
The trend that has seemingly swept the sports world already has participants in massive Sports media companies Fox Sports and Sports Illustrated; with the two giants partnering with, or launching, their own forays into sports betting via sportsbooks.
It seems the Walt Disney Company is looking into launching their own Sportsbook driven by the ESPN brand name; with their mark on sports and sports media being such to catapult them to the top of the sports betting world.
An hour listening to an ESPN radio show or observing the content in ESPN television channels, and the inundation of the market with Content surrounding sports betting is clearly seen.
It seems like ESPN’s entry into the betting space is not simply common sense- as the trend, up to this point, looks like it’s here to stay- but it also presents enormous business opportunities for the company.
The reason that sports betting has become so immensely popular with different sports media outlets is because of the profitability of the practice; with these different companies gaining a revenue stream outside of the license to distribute the specific product.
It’s not as if the sports media giant is void in the area of sports betting, however, as Legalsportsbetting.com spoke on the rumors, and the potential ESPN sportsbook, they stated the following;
ESPN has been active in the market for some time now. The sports media giant has a sports betting deal with DraftKings to supply odds which was agreed upon earlier in the year. ESPN has also partnered with Caesars Entertainment in order to create original sports betting content for its ESPN+ app, ESPN, and ESPN 2.
The stigma that was once so connected to sports betting is connected to a generation-long gone, with the biggest names in sports media all taking part in the promotion of sports betting.
Could ESPN be the next media company to launch a sportsbook? The answer is, seemingly, probably.
