Pro Tips for Getting the Disney Resort You Want
So you looked at your work calendar, and your children‘s school calendars, and all the sports and events calendars, and you finally found the perfect time to travel to Disney World. Hooray!
You’re ready to book your magical vacation, but there’s one problem. The resort you want is not available during your travel dates. What are you going to do?
This is happening more and more as people begin to travel again. Disney is reopening resorts little by little, but not all of the Disney World resorts have reopened yet.
Also, we’re less than 6 months away from the 50th Anniversary Celebration, Halloween, and Christmas festivities making it hard to find availability.
So what are your options?
Option One: Choose a Different Date
This may not be the most fun option, but it will give you more resorts to select from and better park pass availability.
Possibly, consider visiting Disney World when it isn’t around a holiday or a school break. This will allow for more resort availability and lower crowd levels.
Option Two: Books Another Resort in the Same Category
Disney offers three categories of reports; Value, Moderate, and Deluxe. Resorts are categorized based on price per night, amenities, location, and room types.
There are multiple resorts in each category. Try a different resort and see what you think. Maybe you’ll find a new favorite!

Option Three: Book Any Available Resort and Hope Your Preferred Resort Becomes Available
This can be a bit risky considering your Resort may not become available, but it’s much easier to modify an existing reservation than to book a new one.
Plus, you’ve locked down your travel dates and you can begin making Park Pass Reservations and Dining Reservations. Any reservations you make will not change if you switch your resort.

Option Four: Try a Split Stay
This means that you will travel during our same travel dates but possibly stay at 2 to 3 different Disney Resorts during the course of your stay.
There are pros and cons to this option, but it makes it so you don’t have to change your dates. Plus, you get to see lots of different Disney Resorts and experience the different amenities at each.
The downside would be that you also have to pack and repack your luggage multiple times, but Disney’s Bell Services will move it from resort to resort for you. That way you don’t have to miss out on park time.
Unfortunately, there is no perfect option, but I hope you find these options helpful in the future. Keep in mind that a MickeyTravels agent, like myself, can assist you with finding resort availability and planning your Disney vacation. I just had a family complete a Split stay over July 4th weekend and they loved it!
