Hemsworth Advocates in SharkFest Sneak Peak on GMA
Marvel star Chris Hemsworth popped up this morning on “Good Morning America” as the show previewed today’s kickoff to SharkFest festivities. Awareness regarding the species certainly runs close to his heart. His native Australia suffered more fatal shark attacks this year than any other time in one hundred years.

The “Thor” star kicks off Shark Week today with a new National Geographic documentary titled, “Shark Beach with Chris Hemsworth.”
An avid surfer, Hemsworth dedicated his time to the production in order to search for ways in which sharks and humans can co-exist successfully.
Legendary shark activist Valerie Taylor takes a prominent role in the Hemsworth feature, joining him for a dive with the cartilaginous giants.Her life’s work is also the focus of the Disney+ original documentary “Playing with Sharks” premiering during the festivities on July 23rd.
Hemsworth also interviews with pro surfer Mick Fanning during the special to discuss his first-hand story of his shark encounter in 2015. Hemsworth also hits the wave with the Australian great.

“It’s such a privillege to see this massive creatures up-close,” Hemsworth says in the narrative played during the “Good Morning America” piece.
National Geographic’s annual celebration of the world’s most carniverous fish begins today. It continues for six weeks with 21 hours of new content and over 60 hours of intriguing documentaries previously presented.
Guests visiting Disney Springs can get in on the SharkFest action as well. A new photo wall debuted during the weekend perfect for those social media snaps. SharkFest programming will stream across all of the Disney networks periodically throughout the next weeks as well as on Disney+.
