Mal, the daughter of two Disney supervillains Malificent and Hades, met the son of Belle and Beast long ago when she first journeyed to Auradon to attend the elite Auradon Prep. One of the first kids from the Isle of the Lost to ever attend the school, Mal and her pals descended on the school after Ben convinced his parents to give the children of the Isle a chance.

Since then Mal (Dove Cameron) and her VK sidekicks pushed the residents of Auradon to reconsider their judgemental views of the children presumed to be “evil” due to their parents’ malevolent behaviors.
The new animated movie teased today that Mal and Ben (Mitchell Hope) may still face sinister challenges during their special day.
“For many years our love was tried. But our connection could not be denied. A million moments led to this … where bride and groom will share a kiss,” Cameron says during the trailer.
Though Mal’s mother (Kristen Chenoweth) still remains a lizard after the group twarted her plans to take over Auradon in the first “Descendants” story, Cheyenne Jackson did confirm that his Hades character will make an appearance in the animated feature to escort Mal down the aisle.
Jackson’s role in the franchise just began with “Descendants 3” in 2019, in which Mal desperately needed her father’s help to save her friends from a AK-gone-rogue.

The franchise also announced that this new feature would pay tribute to the late Cameron Boyce who portrayed the lovable Cruela descendant, Carlos. Boyce passed away after filming wrapped for the third film.
The rest of the crew, including Sofia Carson, China Anne McClain, Booboo Stewart, and Anna Cathcart, join for the wedding festivities. Former Saturday Night Live star Bobby Moynihan also returns to the cast as the voice of Dude the Dog.
The mystery still remains regarding who might crash this wedding. However, with the full cannon of Disney stories at their disposal, writers of the big day special certainly have a wide selection of dastardly characters to choose from for the film.
