So THAT’S What Typhoon Lagoon Looks Like With No Water…
When will Typhoon Lagoon reopen? Judging from recent aerial photos of the popular Disney water park, it most likely won’t be any time soon. Disney has yet to announce any official reopening date, but rumors have been floating around for months that it could be “sometime in Summer 2021”. Well, we’re already well into summer and Typhoon Lagoon still looks virtually abandoned.
While Blizzard Beach reopened back on March 7, 2021, Typhoon Lagoon has remained closed since the beginning of the pandemic. It has been unclear since then when the park will reopen.
Talked to a person a few weeks ago who has worked at the water parks for years. Typhoon lagoon is going through a massive refurbishment. No immediate plans to reopen

Recent aerial photos from bioreconstruct on Twitter show the water park completely drained. One Twitter user commented saying that they “Talked to a person a few weeks ago who has worked at the water parks for years” and that Typhoon Lagoon is currently undergoing a “massive refurbishment”.
Of course, that statement is purely rumor at this point, as Disney has not officially confirmed or denied any sort of “massive refurb”. Upon visiting the Disney website, Guests are greeted with this vague statement: “As a reminder, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park remains closed at this time. However, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is now open!”
While we may not know when Typhoon Lagoon will officially reopen, these photos make it pretty clear that it will remained closed for the foreseeable future.
