New “Peter Pan and Wendy” Film Will Be Filmed in Newfoundland
The newest live-action Disney movie “Peter Pan and Wendy” will be filmed largely in Newfoundland and Labrador, according to local Canadian news network VOCM. The network announced the exciting news via Twitter on Tuesday, alongside the Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, Andrew Furey.

According to VOCM, the government will “provide a 30 per cent rebate on production costs, up to $3-million but it estimates that expenditures in the province will be up to $9-million.”
The project will employ around 150 local residents including technicians, artists, and film workers. Filming will begin around the first two weeks of August, according to Executive Director Dorian Rowe, and will take place in the Trinity and Southern Shore areas. This is a great opportunity for the seldom talked about province to gain some exposure and a potential boost in tourism.
“Peter Pan and Wendy” is The Walt Disney Company’s newest adaptation of Peter Pan. It is set to be released in 2022 and stars Jim Gaffigan as Smee, Jude Law as Captain Hook, Yara Shahidi as Peter Pan, Alexander Molony as Peter Pan, and Ever Anderson as Wendy.
