Scarlett Johansson Talks Black Widow On GMA
Black Widow’s Johansson says the end of her run is “bittersweet”…
Appearing on Good Morning America on Monday morning, Scarlett Johansson told host Robin Roberts that her husband Colin Jost (of Saturday Night Live fame) is not interested in pumping his wife for inside info on her Marvel role.
“He is so spoiler averse,” said Johansson. “[Colin] doesn’t want to know anything during filming. If I tell him who was on the set that day, he’s worried he’s going to start guessing what the plotline is.
“Mums the word, for sure,” added Scarlett. “He wants to be surprised.”
Most of us love going in not knowing what is going on, but reporters, bloggers, and fans all want to know as much as they can even as Marvel Studios attempts to keep their surprises intact.
“It’s true, I always tell people that,” said Johansson. “You don’t really want to know.
“There are so few surprises these days, just have the patience and sit through the movie and enjoy the ride.
“And this movie is definitely full of a lot of surprises, for sure. I’m so excited it’s finally coming out,” she said.
Of course, the unfortunate saga of the Black Widow film remains well documented. Delayed three times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the movie was supposed to debut in May 2020 after production wrapped in October 2019.
A Bittersweet Ending?
But now that the premiere comes ever closer, Scarlett admits to a few mixed feelings about leaving the character.
Remember, Johannson first embodied Black Widow in 2010’s Iron Man 2.
“I think it’s bittersweet,” said Scarlett. “I’ve had an incredible decade of working with my Marvel family. I am going to miss…seeing them every 18-months or two years. Those kinds of milestones I always looked forward to. But I feel really proud of this film and I think it’s great to go out on a high note.
“This movie is so different from any other Marvel film that we’ve done so far,” adding, “So, like I said, it’s bittersweet.”
