Pirates of the Caribbean Boat Goes Off the Track Mid-Ride
Yesterday, YouTuber Sam of Sam’s Disney Diary spotted an unexpected surprise while riding on the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Magic Kingdom. The boat in front of him truly went “off the rails.”

Perhaps Jack Sparrow had a bit too much of the rum as he guided last night’s journey. The empty boat listed to one side as it glided off the rails before the ride came to a complete stop to pull the boat off the tracks.
The YouTuber, famous for his extensive chronicling of all things Disney history, happened to be in the crestfallen vessel.
Cast members first snagged the marooned attraction vehicle in the tunnel leading to one of the final scenes of the ride. Clearly prepared, the attractions expert used a tool to dislodge the boat.
Disney attraction engineers then guided the vessel further into the tunnels and to a lit area where they could better manuever the vehicle back onto the guides for the attraction.
Pirates of the Caribbean does suffer malfunctions more than most Walt Disney World theme park attractions. The sheer volume of visitors and number of rides per hour helps explain the situation. The ride also features some of the most elaborate sets in any Disney theme park. The number of audioanimatronics tops most attractions, and the water certainly adds a variable to the ride’s daily success.
Though attractions often suffer resolvable issues during the day, a larger challenge lately at the parks are widespread power losses. Disney’s Animal Kingdom specifically suffered more than one park-wide outtage over the last few weeks. At least the walking paths stayed open.
