VIDEO: “Follow Your Dreams” Debuts at Hong Kong Disneyland
“Welcome fellow dreamers” to the character-studded spectacular “Follow Your Dreams.” The new show premieres next week, but guests got a sneak peak yesterday at Hong Kong Disneyland.
Though another preview dealt with delays due to Mother Nature, the inspiring title song kicked off a colorful spectacle on the stage in front of the Castle of Magical Dreams.
“It was such a special, emotional moment for me, not only meeting our Cast face-to-face, but also to see all the hard work and passion finally brought to life on stage,” Managing Director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Michael Moriarty said in an Instagram post.

Following Disney Dream Songs
Mickey and friends begin the show with Goofy sticking around for a rousing rendition of the Sherman Brothers’ “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” from the original classic, “Mary Poppins.” Flying weaves its way as a theme throughout the beginning numbers of the show with cast stunning with wide-ranging vocals for the “Peter Pan” anthem, “You Can Fly.”
The show’s celebration of Disney hits proves that music really is the language of the Disney family, especially with Daisy’s stellar dance moves during a “Coco” medley. The popular Pixar film celebrates all things Mexican culture, especially the importance of music. The scene even includes a giant puppet of Pepita, Mama Imelda’s Alebrije.
Audience members received Mickey ear hats themed to the occasion before the preview. Other hits featured include powerful female protagonist ballads like “Just around the Riverbend,” “How Far I’ll Go,” and “Into the Unknown.”
The show concludes with other uplifting songs, including the “Zootopia” favorite “Try Everything.” (Make sure to check out the giant bubbles that performers inflate around themselves in this number!) The Asian theme parks certainly have a bunch of Zootopia-themed excitement in their future with construction of a Zootopia-themed land well underway in Shanghai.
The rousing original song finishes off the show with dozens of characters, coordinated water fountains, and a much-coveted chance to snap a character photo.
“Follow your Dreams” officially opens on June 30th at Hong Kong Disneyland. The show presents one of the first returns of large-scale live entertainment at Disney theme parks. We certainly can’t wait to see more stage shows return to the resorts around the world.
