Billy Crystal Discusses Monsters at Work
The new Monsters, Inc. spin-off series, Monsters at Work, comes to Disney+ on July 7, 2021. Recently, Billy Crystal discusses Monsters at Work on Good Morning America.
Monsters at Work, A Continuation
Monsters at Work continues the story of Monsters, Inc., and currently, laughter fuels the city of Monstropolis. In addition, Mike and Sulley are now in charge of the Monsters, Inc. powerplant.
Of course, Billy Crystal performs Mike Wazowski’s voice in the Monsters, Inc. franchise. In fact, this is the twentieth anniversary of Monsters, Inc.
Crystal deems Mike Wazowski as being his most favorite character he has ever played. Crystal says, “I love him because he’s so positive, and he doesn’t let anything get in his way…he’s unpredictable, he can break out into song, he’s romantic, he’s outrageous, and he tries so hard to be more than he really is.”
As Billy Crystal discusses Monsters at Work, he explains it is a continuation of Monsters, Inc. The 10-part series picks up the day after the movie’s end; therefore, it is not a sequel.
New Characters and Storylines
Next, Billy Crystal is excited, because Mike and Sulley meet new, funny, and inventive characters played by wonderful actors. Additional actors include Mindy Kaling, Henry Winkler, and Ben Feldman.
John Goodman, the voice of Sulley, returns for the series, as well. Crystal believes harnessing children’s laughter, rather than their screams, is the best part of the story.
Also, young Tylor Tuskmon (played by Ben Feldman) believes he has a job as a scarer, only to find out that he now works on a laugh floor. Therefore, unfunny monsters are trying to be funny, which creates unique circumstances.
In fact, Mike Wazowski teaches a comedy class at the end of every episode! Accordingly, Mike warns new hires that kids could split a gut, literally crack up or pee their pants from laughter.
Classic Monsters, Inc.
Billy Crystal refers to Monsters, Inc. as an “evergreen.” Generations adore Mike and Sulley’s antics, and they will have new adventures to enjoy with Monsters at Work.
Again, Monsters at Work comes to Disney+ on July 7, 2021. Also, new episodes will air every Wednesday.
