The Dread Family Is Back as Haunted Mansion Queue Reopens
MickeyBlog is at the Magic Kingdom this morning where we are excited to share the news that the Haunted Mansion has reopened their outdoor queue!
The lien for the ride was about 40 minutes long when we popped round this morning.
The Mansion was looking ominous as ever on this slightly overcast morning.
Though it seems odd to get excited about a queue, the one at the Haunted Mansion is simply spectacular.
It features lots of spooktacular details including Easter Eggs and even a murder mystery!
The interesting bits of the queue had been closed off to guests since Walt Disney World reopened.
So this is the first time in a very long time that we’ve been able to see our old familiar friends the Dread Family.
Did you know that these clever busts actually reveal a very special murder mystery?
Check out the article I wrote below which gives you a bit of guidance when it comes to figuring out who done it!
Can You Solve The Dread Family Murder Mystery at Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion?
I’ll give you a hint. When it comes to solving the mystery all of the details may not be “on the front” of the busts. Feel free to walk right up and give them a close inspections!
We love that this area has been opened up to the public once again. Just like the Stretching Room, it’s all part of the ambiance and backstory of this awesome attraction!
The graves that you weave through as you wait in line are also once more available to view.
Be sure to take time to read the Epitaphs, there filled will hilarious puns.
In addition, be sure to give a tap on the musical instruments adorning this mausoleum and see if you can conjure up some awesome tunes.
Its fun to see what sort of musical mayhem you can create.
Don’t forget that there’s musical fun to be hand on both sides of the grave.
Speaking of, don’t forget to press the key of this slightly sinister pipe organ.
Be prepared to get a bit soggy as you approach the final resting place of Captain Culpepper Clyne.
We love all of the fun details on this grave right down to the sea monsters that adorn the corners!
The reverse of the Captain’s grave even features some submarine style details!
Next up is the moving bookcase.
Though kids have fun pushing back on the books that mysteriously pop out, the bookcase actually holds an interesting mystery.
Among the books are 20 symbols that when decoded spell out a secret message.
If you have some time, take some photos and see if you can decode the message when you get back to your resort room!
Here are more funny Epitaphs! Our favorite is the “Rest in Pieces” on the bottom right.
We really enjoyed winding our way through all of these ghostly details.
Below is another favorite Prudence Pock who actually died from Writer’s Block!
As we turn the corner you’ll find more fun epitaphs to your left. Pay particular attention to Madame Leota’s tombstone. She likes to keep her eyes on the crowd!
So if you’ll be visiting the theme parks in the weeks ahead, be sure to pop by Liberty Square to check out the return of these ghoulish details.
This is just one of the many signs that Disney is returning to a “new normal” with the relaxing of COVID-19 restrictions.
We’ll be coming to you LIVE from the parks all week long so keep checking back with us for more exciting details.
