BREAKING NEWS: No More Temperature Checks, Social Distancing as Disneyland Opens This Morning
Our MickeyBloggers are coming to you live from the “Happiest Place on Earth” this morning where there are massive changes afoot. They haven’t even entered Disneyland theme park yet and already there’s indication it’s a different Disney this morning.
Some COVID-19 health and safety procedures still remain in place. You can see that the hand sanitizer stations are still out.
And plexiglass dividers still remain.
However, social distancing markers have been removed from the entrance.
Disney reported yesterday that Cast Members wills till be required to wear face masks for the time being but employees are no longer required to undergo mandatory temperature checks in the morning.
Here you can see the CM’s getting ready to start the day.
MickeyBlog was the first in line to get into the parks this morning. When we arrived there were no crowds but you just wait Disney friends!
You can still see some of the remnants of the social distancing markers on the ground but social distancing is no longer being enforced on the rides or attractions.
Though cast members are still wearing masks, guests are no longer required to wear masks unless riding on Disney transportation.
Facemask requirements have been loosened with the understand that it ONLY applies to guests that have received the complete COVID-19 vaccination. However, Disney is not requiring proof of vaccination and is operating in good faith. If you haven’t been vaccinated then please mask-up!
Disney has said that for the time being they will be leaving the theme park reservation system in place to manage capacity. That means that guests must have BOTH a theme park ticket and a park pass reservation for the park that you want to visit each day. Having one but not the other means you will not be allowed to enter the parks.
Disney’s CEO Bob Chapek has said that Disney hopes to steadily increase capacity at the parks and is optimistic that the theme parks can return to full capacity going into the Fall.
All of these steps indicate that the Walt Disney Company is closer to that goal.
MickeyBlog will be at Disneyland Resort all week where we’ll keep you abreast of all of the changes happening park wide.
Though the gates aren’t open as of yet we wanted to share a few images with you of the railroad station at Disneyland.
The park is looking absolutely beautiful on this sunny morning.
We noticed in the plaza between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure that garbage bins are no longer being propped open and that the social distancing signage previously on the cans have been removed.
Social distancing markers have also been removed from the ticketing queues.
If you were following along with us last night, you may have seen images of us going through the last temperature check at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel.
This morning signs of the temperature check stations have been largely removed.
Plexiglass can still be seen at the check-in desk but the temperature check station has been removed (below.)
You can see the area above where there is still a roped off section where the checkpoint used to be.
Guests staying on property now must only go through the usual security checks before entering the parks.
As you can see below, social distancing markers have been removed from the flooring.
Signage has been removed from the porte cochere.
And below you can see a team member hard at work removing the social distancing markers from the floor.
Be sure to keep following along with us all day where we’ll be coming to you LIVE! from Disneyland Resort!
