Original Illustrations Amplify Fright in New Villains Compilation
The brilliant artistry and meticulous storytelling that bring Disney’s cruelest villains to life illuminates a new story collection, titled Disney Villains: A Portrait of Evil, History’s Wickedest Luminaries.
“Once you turn this page, there is no going back. You will enter into a world of untold villainy … Who am I to tell these stories, you ask? Consider me that nasty little voice in the back of your head, leading you in excitingly wicked directions,” states the new new work cleverly written by Pat Shand.
“There are no heroes within these pages … well, not heroes in the traditional sense,” the calculated narrator continues.
Illustrated by Justin and Alexis Hernandez, the original artwork makes this book something special. The bold lines, sweeping brush strokes in lavish colors, and incredible shading create such a sinister mood in each panel.
The image of Charnabog, the winged-monster perched on Bald Mountain, truly does create a moment of fear when the reader first turns the page. After opening the secret flaps, this feeling amplifies when Charnabog reveals his horned face and dancing minions.
Sly Keepsakes Hidden on the Other Side
The compliation recounts the gruesome tales of 19 Disney villains from the all-powerful Malificent to scheming Shere Khan and Kaa. The famous antagonists are arranged into three themes: Enchanted Evil, Mortal Peril, and Inhuman Terror.
In the grimoire, or textbook of magic, readers are introduced to the dark secrets and intricate spells of Disney’s most dastardly characters. Also, the tales of scheming and nefarious sidekicks like Lucifer, the Stabbington Brothers, Flotsam and Jetsam are also recounted.
Each diabolic villain comes to devilish life through the incredible illustrations. Some even include interactive elements that uncover personal keepsakes from the stories, like Doctor Facilier’s tarot cards.
“Packed with interactive elements and keepsakes from their most devlish plots, Disney Villains: A Portrat of Evil puts the evidence of their wicked deeds right in the palm of your hand,” said publisher Insight Designs in a press release.
The 40-page hardcover splender of art and storytelling hits shelves on July 20th and retails for $19.99. It is available now for pre-order as well. Futhermore, Insight Editions recommends this book for readers ages 8-12.
The Disney villains also return to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World later this summer during Boo Bash, a Disney After Hours event. Now, tickets are now for the event set to take place on select evenings throughout the fall.
