Jameela Jamil Joins “She-Hulk” Cast as Supervillain Titania
Yesterday, news broke that “The Good Place” actress Jameela Jamil will join the cast of “She-Hulk.” The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s comedy-based series is set to debut on Disney+ next year.
Though not yet confirmed by Marvel, The Hollywood Reporter did confirm that “DuckTales” voice actress Jamil joined the cast to play Titania, a supervillain and rival on She-Hulk in the comics.
Originally born rather scrawny and with the name Mary MacPherran in the comics, Titania becomes incredibly bold and confident after becoming a metahuman for Doctor Doom.
She also possesses the strength of a Titan in the original comics and successfully fought Thor, Hulk, and of course, She-Hulk.
Titania famously fought Spiderman in the original comic stories, though it did not go so well for the bruttish villain. Still, maybe this first appearance for Jamil is just the beginning of her vengeful run in the MCU.
“She-Hulk” stars Tatiana Maslany as lawyer Jennifer Walters, a cousin of Bruce Banner/Hulk. Walters first appeared in Marvel comics in 1980 when she needed a blood transfusion from Banner. Only inheriting some of Banner’s powers, Walters controls her temper much better than the Hulk. She also retains her personality during her transformation. However, due to a radiation leak, she eventually remains in her She-Hulk state permanently.
Mark Ruffalo is set to appear on the show as Bruce Banner, and Tim Roth returns as the towering villain, the Abomination. Roth created the role in 2008’s “The Incredible Hulk,” the second Hulk film in the MCU.

Comedian Ginger Gonzaga also joined the cast in recent months. Gonzaga will play Walters’ best friend and work colleague (because what good lawyer show does not have an arsenal of stellar teammates).
“Hamilton” star Renée Elise Goldsberry joins the cast as a character named Amelia, but no new news yet on what Amelia’s role will be in the plot line.
“Since Jennifer Walters is a lawyer who specializes specifically in superhero-oriented legal cases, you never know what Marvel characters are gonna pop up from episode to episode,” said Marvel Studios Presiden Kevin Feige during a Disney Investor Day presentation last year and cited in a Comicbook article.
Directors Kat Coiro and Anu Valia lead the pilot for the new seires, and Jessica Gao helms the witty writing team after penning “Rick & Morty.”
Have you checked out the latest Marvel original series “Loki” yet? It is now streaming on Disney+ with new episodes released on Wednesdays.
