Cast & Community Visit Avengers Campus for the First Time!
We’ve shared a lot of stories from the ground at the Avengers Campus which opened yesterday at Disney California Adventure.
However, there’s been one thing that we’ve been curious to know and that’s how Disneyland Cast Members feel about this new Marvel-themed land!
Though the Avengers Campus opened to the public on June 4th, there was actually a soft opening for cast members during the wee. Employees and their guests were invited to sling webs with Spider-Man, try out the delectable treats including shawarma and got the chance to meet their favorite heroes.
During soft openings Disney also typically extends the perk to heroes in the local community. This time around that included members from Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County and the Community Action Partnership of Orange County!
Rita Garcia, family support specialist at Community Action Partnership of Orange County had this to say about being invited to the opening, “We really appreciate the fact that Disneyland Resort is acknowledging all the work we’ve done for the community,” She continued, “I’m a huge Avengers fan so it means a lot to me to be here.”
Invited guests for the organizations mentioned above even had an opportunity to bring fellow colleagues or their families for the adventure filled day.
Disney President Ken Potrock had this to say about extending the invitation to those who made a difference in the community, “I am inspired by how our community came together to support one another through the pandemic, especially those who helped feed people in need.” Potrock continued, “With the opening of Avengers Campus filled with Super Heroes, it’s only fitting that we share this moment with the folks from Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County and Community Action Partnership of Orange County, whose heroic actions helped our community when we needed it the most.”
