Some Outdoor Cast Members Can Remove Masks
Walt Disney World relaxed outdoor mask requirements for guests a few weeks ago in accordance with guidance from the CDC and Florida Department of Health.
We’ve even seen some other Orlando theme parks nix masks for their employees, too. But it wasn’t until now that we saw the first relaxed mask guidelines for Disney cast members.
Some outdoor Disney cast members may now remove their masks, according to news sources.
The new rule applies to cast members who are outside and not within a close proximity to others. Think parking attendants, float drivers, after hours maintenance staff, etc. People who generally do their jobs well within their own space bubble.
Cast members should still have masks on their person, as if they move indoors or within 6 feet of guests or other employees, they are still required to mask up.
We’re sure this rule change comes as a relief to cast members spending hours outdoors in the Florida heat!
While masks are no longer required outdoors on Walt Disney property, they are still required indoors and in ride queues and attractions. But I know I am excited to be able to walk and eat my Mickey pretzel at the same time, once again!
