To many, this film redeems the MCU from the relatively anti-climactic reaction to her ultimate sacrifice at the end of “Avengers: End Game.”

Without her choice to sacrifice herself, Hawkeye would not have been able to return the Soul Stone to the present. Without that moment, the people that Thanos previously snapped would be lost forever, and Tony Stark’s eventual snap to strip Thanos of his powers would not be possible.
“Black Widow” Special Suprises
In “Black Widow,” viewers travel back in the MCU timeline to the conclusion of “Captain America: Civil War.” Before that point, the Avengers operated as an autonomous team, solving the world’s problems, much to the shigrin of other governments.

When Wanda blows up a hospital with relief workers from Wakanda, the Avengers no longer work alone and split into two groups: one who believes that they should sign the Sokovia Accords led by Tony Stark and one who no longer wants to be under government control led by Captain America.
Black Widow chooses to side with Tony Stark, but when she turns against Ironman’s team to join Captain America, she becomes a renegade. In the trailer, General Ross (William Hurt) surrounded by armed guards, assumingly out to capture Natasha.
Beginning with her training in the Red Room first introduced in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the trailer quickly follows Black WIdow’s history in the MCU as an antagonistic Soviet-trained government spy to Shield agent and eventually to her indoctrination as an Avenger.
Natasha’s adopted family flashes as she realizes that she will no longer run from her past with images of her mother-figure Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz), the Red Guardian (David Harbour), and a sister-like friend from the Red Room, Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh).

RIck Mason, the presumed antagonist Taskmaster, makes an appearance in the sneak peak. With the ability to mimic the fighting style of any opponent, he will certainly challenge Black Widow physically and mentally. (He was also the villian that the Avengers fought on the balcony of Avengers Headquarters last night to initiate Avengers Campus at Disney California Adenture Park.)
