Construction Milestone Achieved as Columns Added to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
For the past several months, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World has been undergoing an extensive refurbishment. From the rooms to the outside of the Resort, everything is getting a fresh look. We stopped by the Polynesian today and noticed a big construction milestone had been achieved as columns that will be a main focal point of the entrance have been installed as well as work on the roof.
As you see in the photo below, once the construction is complete on the outside of the Polynesian, there will be several columns lining the entrance that have been fashioned like totem poles.
Here is a photo of what we recognized in terms of the construction on the installation of these columns today:
Here’s another look:
In addition to the columns being installed at the Polynesian, more construction was being done to the roof of the resort.
Check out this photo for a closer look at what the new roof will look like once complete:
Here’s another look at the construction on the roof:
As mentioned, the refurbishment isn’t only happening to the outside of the Walt Disney World Resort Hotel! Once construction wraps up, new rooms will also debut that will feature a Moana-theme.
How adorable are these! I know I am excited to stay in one!
And, with all the construction being done on the front entrance of the Polynesian, the Resort’s Monorail Station is also being worked on. While currently closed, we are thinking it will reopen when the Resort starts welcoming Guests again beginning July 19, 2021.
While the construction continues along, their have been slight changes to the merchandise shop at the Polynesian, BouTiki, as well as Capt’n Cook’s and Kona Cafe. The ever-popular restaurant, ‘Ohana, and Trader Sam’s have yet to open since Walt Disney World reopened due to the COVID shutdown in June of last year. We are also optimistic a reopening date will be announced for them soon as construction is beginning to wrap up at the Polynesian.
