Aulani Guests No Longer Required to Wear Masks Outdoors
Since Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa in Hawaii reopened last year, Guests were required to wear masks and face coverings in all locations including outdoors. The only exceptions to this rule was if you were in the pool or actively eating or drinking.Today, that mandate has been updated to say that masks and face coverings are now optional in outdoor common areas.

The official update from Disney on the Aulani website states:
Face coverings are required for anyone (ages 2 and up) who enters Aulani property. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them in all indoor locations, except when actively eating or drinking while stationary and maintaining appropriate physical distancing. Face coverings are optional in outdoor common areas at Aulani Resort, but are still required upon entering indoor locations.

While Guests no longer have to wear masks and face coverings outdoors at Aulani, they are still required indoors and must meet the following requirements per the Aulani website:
- Be made with at least 2 layers of breathable material
- Fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin
- Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
- Be secured with ties or ear loops and allow the Guest to remain hands-free

At this time, based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings.
Aulani dropping their outdoor mask mandate comes on the heels of Walt Disney World doing the same over two weeks ago. Walt Disney World Guests are still required to wear their mask or face covering when entering an indoor attraction queue an needs to remain on while on an attraction.

Disneyland still requires masks and face coverings by all Guests ages 2 and older indoors and outdoors.
