Disney Stock In June: You Ready For Summer?
Let’s talk Disney Stock in June…
Probably because I’ve been caught up in all things Bad Batch and Cruella, it’s been a while since I’ve stumbled upon my favorite Disney stock analyst Rick Munarriz’s byline.
However, today he stopped me in my tracks with “3 Dates for Disney Stock Investors to Circle in June” via The Motley Fool – not because I don’t realize that June is a pretty important month for The Mouse, but because I just can’t believe Tuesday is JUNE.
But I digress. We’ve got plenty to talk about DIS-wise, and Rick sets us up for the convo.
June is a Big Month
- On June 4 – The opening of Avengers Campus, Raya and the Last Dragon is free on Disney+
- Then on June 15 – The opening of Disneyland Resort to out-of-state guests
- Finally, June 18 – Luca hits Disney+
“Schools going on summer vacation is also typically a dinner bell for its theme parks worldwide,” wrote Rick. “Things have been more than a little different over the past year, but with some normalcy starting to creep back into our lives, this could be a strong June for Disney.”
This on the heels of his Fool.com compatriot Selena Maranjian writing: “3 Stocks You Can Buy and Hold for the Next Decade.”
Did you guess which of our favorite companies has stock on the list? You sure did.
Maranjian wrote:
The company has been challenged by the pandemic, which shut down parks and resorts along with movie theaters, but the improving economy, boosted by vaccinations, bodes well for the company’s near-term prospects. Meanwhile, parts of its business have been doing just fine. Hulu, for example, almost tripled its subscribership between 2017 and 2020, to 36.6 million. Its Hulu + Live TV package recently cost $65 per month — and sports more than 4 million subscribers. That alone generates more than $3 billion annually.“
However, in yet another article, it was Rick, who again got my interest.
In his piece, “Disneyland is Almost Ready for Out-of-State Visitors,” Munarriz wrote:
The timing couldn’t be better for these two coastal resorts to be easing up on restrictions. We’re heading into the summer travel season, which has always been a busy time of the year for Disney’s theme parks. Now, with people itching to get away from home — and in many cases, ready to spend the money they were unable to use on summer getaways last year — premium-priced destinations like Disneyland and Disney World are obvious candidates to benefit.
Well said.
And, by the way, I have one more key date to include on the June list; that day would be June 9 and the release day for Loki on Disney+. Me and my 12 shares of DIS will be watching, intently.
