Virtually Visiting the Palaces
Today’s announcement brings a wealth of new Castle Collection content to augmented reality fans as well as to desktop users. The experience is also presented in 3D when not AR is not available.
Accompanying the most recent release in the limited time collection, Jasmine’s palatial estate in Agrabah joins the digital platform. A setting full of deep reds and oranges greets guests with a score harkening back to the themes presented on the streets of the marketplace in the original animated film, “Aladdin.”
Using Web360 technology, the new offerings from the limited edition release Castle Collection allow shopDisney patrons to explore many of the recent releases virtually. To accompany these experiences, collectors can also purchase limited time figurines, pins, puzzles, and ornmanents themed around each castle.
The shopDisney Virtual Platform
Each castle begins with an enchating platform featuring scenery reminiscent of the feature film presented.
Aurora’s Castle lets users step up to the stained glass doors of the regal, brick-lined masterpiece. The storybook purples, reds and teals pop amongst the almost-hand drawn trees that dot the bottom of the landscape.
Snow White’s castle platform begins in the woods as well. This castle takes users to a smaller but still grand sanctuary fit for a princess (or an Evil Queen).
The Arendelle Castle takes center stage in a winter environment fit for the Ice Queen herself, Elsa. In this virtual experience, one can approach the triangle arches that characterize this Scandanavian masterpiece. User can even get up-close to the dark blue window at the top, a prominent scene in Elsa’s realizations about her identity.
The augmented reality option allows users to place castles throughout their home, truly bringing a touch of Disney magic to any surface.
Previous Collection Releases
Previously, shopDisney released limited edition Castle Collection figurines for Cinderella, Elsa, Aurora, Rapunzel, Mulan and Snow White. The next release will feature Ariel’s castle from “Little Mermaid,” and later releases are set for the castles of Merida and Belle.
