Star Wars Noir: Trail of Shadows
What do you get when you cross noir with Star Wars? The High Republic: Trail of Shadows
So, a few months back I was saying to a Star Wars friend, “I would love to read a Star Wars mystery; a noir-style thriller.”
Now, at the time, I was thinking, “Heck, maybe I could write that….”
And then, that night, I had trouble pulling together my 350-word article.
Daniel José Older Writes Star Wars Noir
So, with that said, I am thrilled that writer Daniel José Older does not have trouble piling up words. That’s not to say I am not jealous. I am.
But I am totally gonna read the poodoo out of this comic book.
Kristin Baver, the ginger Jedi herself, interviewed Older and asked about his approach to mysteries in a galaxy far, far away.
“I am beyond excited to be working on this thrilling, creepy, delightful story,” Older told Baver who explained the project is a fusion of two facets of Older’s personal fandom: “my lifelong love for Star Wars with my lifelong love of noir, crime stories, and mystery.”
So Here’s The Story, See…
Baver described the plot:
Following the shocking events of the Republic Fair, the Jedi call upon one of their own, Emerick Caphtor, to investigate a strange mystery with ties to the Jedi Order. At the same time, Chancellor Lina Soh calls upon Sian Holt, a high-end, in-demand private detective to look into the same mystery. But will either solve this riddle before anyone else dies?
Baver also added, “The story will connect directly with the new Cavan Scott novel The Rising Storm, although the editorial team is tight-lipped about the narrative thrust since that book won’t hit shelves until this summer.”
No word yet on when the comic will arrive, but we’ve got something to keep you busy in the meantime: Star Wars: The High Republic Show.
