Shooter McGavin Joins Marvel’s Secret Invasion
Actor Christopher McDonald will take part in Marvel’s Secret Invasion…
He may be one of the most prolific actors of his generation, but I’ll venture a guess that most of us remember Christopher McDonald best as Shooter McGavin from Happy Gilmore.
Frankly, I am glad to hear that McDonald embraces his Happy Gilmore persona.
It Makes People Feel Good
“It’s lovely to have a hit like this, I’ve gotta say. It keeps on giving,” Christopher told Vulture in February. “If I can make people laugh, that’s great, because the world’s pretty screwed up.
“It makes people feel good. It’s a blessing.”
And now, Shooter, er, I mean, Christopher McDonald will join the MCU via Disney+.
McDonald Joins Secret Invasion
Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva posted:
Christopher McDonald (Happy Gilmore) is the latest big name to join Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn in Secret Invasion, the upcoming Marvel series for Disney+, Deadline has learned… Details about the role are being kept under wraps, but I hear it is a newly created character that could cross over to the larger MCU, including appearing in movies and other Disney+ limited series.
Andreeva added, “The cast of Secret Invasion is expected to also include Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Killian Scott.”
Back in December, the inimitable Rachel Paige wrote for Marvel.com:
They might have gotten off to a rocky start in Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel, but now Nick Fury and Talos are back! Revealed during The Walt Disney Company’s 2020 Investor Day presentation by Kevin Feige, president, Marvel Studios, and chief creative officer, Marvel, Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion, a new series coming to Disney+, has Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn reprising their roles as the former S.H.I.E.L.D. director and Skrull, respectively.
