First Look at Work Being Done at Spice Road Table in EPCOT
Good morning Disney Friends! Over the weekend Disney Imagineer Zach Ridley took to Instagram to share some pretty awesome insights about refurbishments being done to one of my favorite places to eat at Epcot – Spice Road Table.
I consider this eatery to be on of EPCOT’s hidden secrets as they offer waterfront dining with a delectable mix of tradition Moroccan food including shareable plates.
In the Image above you can see Zach Riddley atong with Michael Wells, EPCOT Art Director for Walt Disney Imagineering.
As you can see from the image above, the team of Imagineers took to Spice Road table to add some new touches to Spice Road table including refreshing the eatery with bold colors and patterns adorning the pillars found in the outdoor dining area.
I absolutely adore this image of the colorful spices comparable to what you would find at a traditional Moroccan market. As Riddley says in his post, “Moroccan markets are rich and layered experiences – where shopkeepers take pride in organizing their wares in beautiful, complex compositions of color, texture and form” He continues “Each shop is unique and dense, and it’s that sensory richness that makes visiting these markets so unforgettable”
As you can see from these images Michael and his incredible EPCOT team wanted to recapture that feeling of being at a traditional street marketplace as you stroll along the World Showcase promenade!
One detail that Riddley really loved were these hand painted Moroccan street signs. According to Ridley, you’ll find these throughout the markets and souks in Morocco. Artists pain profressions with the job titles translated into Arabic and French.
According to Riddley these signs were actually purchased in Morocco and brought back to EPCOT to add authenticity to this area of the World Showcase.
Spice Road Table is open daily for lunch and dinner at EPCOT. The restaurant is currently Walk-Ins only! You can find a complete list of delicious menu-items here.
