Dave Filoni has consistently been a revered name for his contribution to the expansion and exploration of the Star Wars universe; building from the foundation laid by George Lucas himself.
Working as the showrunner for the Star Wars franchise’s first foray into long-form storytelling in the form of the animated series, Star Wars: Clone Wars; Filoni was guided through the vastness of Star Wars by non-other than Lucas himself.

The promotion to Executive Producer/ Creative Director by Lucasfilm feels like the culmination of a lifetime worth of commitment for the writer, director, and producer.
Dave Filoni was first brought in as showrunner of the aforementioned Clone Wars animated series over a decade ago.
The 2008 series expanded upon the previously unexplored time between George’s first two prequel films; Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.
The Lucas and Filoni collaboration began even earlier than the first series was developed and produced; as their partnership was instrumental in the formation of Lucasfilm in 2005.

The series later over 100 episodes, and has four Emmy awards to its credit; while also being championed as one of the brand’s most expansive and creative endeavors.
It is Dave Filoni, in step with Lucas, who is responsible for the canonization of much of the Star Wars lore; while he has also created some of the greatest iterations of Star Wars mainstays, and some beloved original characters.

His fingerprint on the Star Wars universe only expanded following his second animated series effort in Star Wars Rebels.
The series shifted the timeline and allowed Filoni the ability to explore what the Star Wars universe looked like in a post-Empirical universe, yet before the arrival of Luke Skywalker and the team of the Original Trilogy.
Star Wars Resistance and this year’s newly debut Bad Batch series are both projects that are driven by the creative force of Dave Filoni.
His talents were not limited to the world of animated episodic television, however, as the longtime showrunner was brought in as an executive producer and lead voice for the wildly successful live-action series, The Mandalorian.

The lead writer and voice behind The Mandalorian, Jon Favreau, specifically sought out Filoni’s collaboration; which undoubtedly helped the series become one of the most popular.
With new Lucasfilm content such as The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, the third season of The Mandalorian, and others; it seems the company is looking to lean on Filoni’s vast experience.
