MagicBand Pricing Has Gone Up By $5 at Disney World
Yesterday, we here at MickeyBlog shared the news that Walt Disney World Annual Passholders will no longer be given complimentary MagicBands as one of their passholder benefits. This will go into effect in August.

Though Disney wasn’t forthcoming about the reasons, it more than likely due to the fact that Disney is really pushing their new MagicMobile system which gives your phone the same functionality as a MagicBand.
Throughout the unveiling of MagicMobile, Disney has said that they will not be doing away with the MagicBand system and that guests could choose which option they prefer. However, MagicBands would no longer be for vacation package bookers or passholders.
Now today, during our visit to Disney World we noticed another interesting development in the MagicBand saga. Disney World has overnight increased the retail cost of MagicBands!
For those unfamiliar there are three main MagicBand price levels starting with Coral. Coral bands are the more basic bands (usually solid colors) and have traditionally retailed for $14.99.
Now however the signage has changed and the price has been increased to $19.99.
The next tier is bronze which usually features slightly more elaborate bands featuring characters or artwork.
The price of bands in the Bronze tier have retailed for $24.99 which has now been increased to $29.99.
Finally there’s Amethyst which which are usually reserved for limited edition MagicBand releases or collector’s editions. Again these have traditionally retailed for $29.99 which has since gone up to $34.99.
A $5 price hike on each MagicBand is pretty substantial and will be yet another reason more guests may shift to MagicMobile. We’ll be watching these developments closely and we promise to keep you posted!
