ICYMI: It Was a Day of HUGE Changes at Disney World as Parks Ease Mask Restrictions
Oh what a beautiful day Disney friends! Today was a momentous and rather unexpected occasion at Disney World. The theme parks are relaxing their social distancing and health and safety procedures as Americans continue to get vaccinated and infect rates go down.
The news came in last night with Disney World updating the “Know Before You Go” section of their website. As you can see from the image above, the biggest changes have been to Disney’s policy on wearing face coverings in the theme parks.
Going forward, guests are no longer required to wear facemasks when walking in outdoor areas at the theme parks.
However, masks are still required on a case per case basis when in line for rides and attractions. Our MickeyBlogger Greg spoke to cast members this morning who advised that each ride has its own jurisdiction and guests may be told to wear masks in some queues but not others.
As you can see from the photos taken this morning, guests were expected to wear masks when lining up for Carousel of Progress but not on Peter Pan’s Flight. In addition, face coverings are still required when indoors including at dining and retail locations.
For a live look at the Magic Kingdom’s first day without outdoor facemask requirements here is a video that our MickeyBloggers posted earlier today. It really gives you a sense of the excitement and happiness that guests felt to be maskless while walking right down the middle of Main Street.

Are Masks Required While Waiting In Line at Disney World Theme Parks?
Above is a great article to check out that delves a bit deeper into whether guests are required to wear mask while waiting in line. Here you’ll find information on what Magic Kingdom attractions are requiring face coverings while queuing and the ones that aren’t.
Masks aren’t the only COVID-19 restriction that Walt Disney World has loosened up on over the past few weeks. Temperature checks have also been done away with. You can check out our visit to the Grand Floridian where we hopped on the monorail without having to go through temperature screenings!
Disney World is also in the process of removing social distancing signs as the 6 feet of physical distancing has now been reduced to three!
We’ll leave you with a Twitter post that absolutely made our day:
