Trash Cans No Longer Being Propped Open For Health & Safety at Disney World
The times they are a changing! Earlier today, we here at MickeyBlog shared the news that due to an uptake in vaccinations in Orange County, Florida and a reduction in new COVID-19cases, that Disney has opted to reduce it’s social distancing rules from 6 feet apart when queuing to 3 feet apart.
But that’s not the only change we’re seeing at the parks this week!
Disney World theme parks have also stopped propping open their waste cans.
Since Walt Disney World theme parks reopened after the coronavirus closure Disney custodial staff had been propping open bins as a safety measure.
This precaution was taken so that guests didn’t need to touch the flap doors on the bins when throwing away items.
In addition, each of the bins were outfitted with signage outlining the health & safety precautions Disney was taking at the theme parks.
Though we still see the signage up in some locations, it is slowly being removed as COVID restrictions relax!
And pretty much every single trash can we’ve come across at the theme parks including Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom is no longer propping cans.
Easing up on the trash cans is one of a handful of a subtle relaxing of restriction that Disney has made over the last few weeks.
This includes allowing guests to remove their face masks when posing for photos. As we previously reported, mandatory temperature checks have also been done away with.
And this may not be the last changes we see in the weeks to come. Earlier this week, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings said that when the county reaches a 50% vaccination rate (currently at 47%) than the use of face masks outdoors is no longer required.
Though Disney has been open about the fact that they will set there own distancing rules which may differ from the government’s, we are eager to see what happens when this vaccination rate is achieved which should happen later this week. Keep following along with us and we’ll keep you posted regarding further Walt Disney World health & safety changes in the weeks to come!
