More News Emerges Regarding Disney’s Broadway Shows – Including Aladdin!
Someone must’ve rubbed the lamp because the Genie just granted one of our wishes! If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you may have seen the news that Broadway shows will be reopening on September 14th including a Disney favorite or two. Now Disney has made it official with an announcement of their own.
According to a Disney Theatrical Productions press release, The Lion King will be returning to Broadway’s Minskoff Theatre on September 14, 2021 making it one of the first shows to resume performances. Aladdin will be hot on it’s heels with performances kicking off at the New Amsterdam Theater on September 28,2021.
Disney has also announced that they are making bookings even more flexible for guest during this unprecedented time. This includes the following measures:
- No Ticketmaster Fees! – Disney will be paying 100% of the TicketMaster fees associated with your purchase. All you’ll pay is the ticket prices. This will be applied to performances through August 7, 2022.
- Guests will now be able to exchange or cancel tickets at no charge including on the day of the performance.
- Get tickets to both shows and save with the Double the Magic package which will offer savings of up to $149!

The New Amsterdam and Minskoff Theatres will also be following New York state and CDC guidelines to ensure safety of cast, crew, employees and audience members. The theaters are committed to remaining flexible and will adapt to health protocols as necessary. This may include face masks, health screenings, enhanced filtration and rigorous cleaning and disinfection.
But that’s not all the theatrical details we have to share with you. Both the North American Tours of The Lion King and Frozen will be among the Disney Theatrical productions resuming performances in 2021!
