Virtual Queue Added for Indiana Jones Adventure
Disneyland will begin testing a virtual queue on Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland on Tuesday, May 11 to reduce crowding in Adventureland.
With health and safety guidelines mandated by the state of California for COVID-19, theme parks have had to close all indoor queues. Disneyland has had to be creative with where they route park guests to be socially distanced.
According to the OC Register, “Disneyland has been using the upstairs Jungle Cruise queue as an overflow line for Indiana Jones Adventure while the shuttered water ride undergoes an extensive makeover to remove outdated cultural depictions.”
Visitors to Disneyland should expect the virtual queue to work like the one used for Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – with key differences.
Indiana Jones virtual queue
This virtual queue will be accessed via the Disneyland app. But unlike Rise of the Resistance, this queue won’t be available all day. Instead, Disneyland will have a hybrid of virtual and standby queues.
You’ll have to check the Disneyland app to access the virtual queue or to find out if they are using the standby queue. And you’ll need to be inside Disneyland Park to try to get a boarding pass.
The queue will only be open during park hours, unlike Rise of the Resistance.
That means if you are starting your day at Disneyland, you can enter the queue at park opening. If you are starting your day at Disney California Adventure Park, you can park hop to Disneyland beginning at 1 p.m. and then join the queue.
How the test works
Just like Rise of the Resistance, when you join a boarding group you will get a boarding group number for your return.
Remember, this is a test – so the virtual queue for Indiana Jones Adventure could simply be a temporary cure for the overcrowding issue. Or if it works well maybe they’ll try it out on other attractions?
Good news
Good news: you can enter both the Indiana Jones Adventure and the Rise of the Resistance queue at the same time. But you can only be in each of them once per day.
At reopening, the 12-person vehicles on Indiana Jones Adventure have been outfitted with plexiglass shields between rows to help with social distancing on the attraction.
