Fort Lauderdale Could Be Home to a Disney Cruise Line Ship
As Disney Cruise Line continues to add on to it’s fleet – the all-new Disney Wish will take its first voyage on June 9, 2022 – it is likely that one of the ships in the magical cruise line’s fleet could call Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida home.
Disney Cruise Line has had a presence in South Florida at the Port of Miami since 2012 with seasonal sailings usually offered in the late Winter and early fall aboard the Disney Magic.

Just recently it was announced though that the Disney Dream would be moving from its current year round home port of Port Canaveral near Orlando, Florida to the Port of Miami. This change will go into effect in the Summer of 2022 when the Disney Wish will begin sailing on 3- and 4-night sailings to the Bahamas from Port Canaveral.
Discussions are already underway between Disney Cruise Line and Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, a final deal has not yet been reached. On April 26, 2021 Disney submitted a letter to Port Everglades looking to negotiate a berth for their ship at Terminal 4. A contract between Carnival Cruise Line and Port Everglades for Terminal 4 recently fell through leaving that Terminal looking for a new cruise ship to call it home.

A spokesperson for Disney Cruise Line, Cynthia Martinez, said, “We were recently made aware of an emerging opportunity at Port Everglades and are beginning formal discussions.”
While Disney Cruise Line is in discussions with the Port, it’s not known at this time which ship in their fleet would call Fort Lauderdale home year round. It is also unknown if Disney would have two cruise ships sailing out of South Florida – one from the Port of Miami and another from Port Everglades.

Currently, Disney Cruise Line is booking for sailings through the Summer of 2022 with one exception – The Disney Wish will first open for bookings on May 17, 2021. In addition, we are all still (un)patiently for cruises to resume from the United States since the Covid shutdown back in March 2020.
