Broadway To Open September 14th With Tickets On Sale TOMORROW!
We’ve got some incredible news to share with you! Yesterday, our MickeyBlogger John wrote and awesome article about New York Governor Andrew Cuomo lifting COVID restrictions for sports arenas, Broadway theaters and more.
NOW it looks like the theater community has answered the call with the news that Broadway Theaters will be opening to 100% capacity starting on September 14th and tickets will go on sale for select locations starting tomorrow May 6th.

According to a story from NBC4 New York, Governor Cuomo said that masks, health screenings, enhanced air filtration, ventilation and rigorous cleaning requirements will be mandatory. Cuomo also advised that theaters will provide refund and exchange policies should a performance need to be cancelled for pandemic-related reasons.
Another proposal from Cuomo is that there will be special designated sections in the theater for those who are fully vaccinated. Cuomo said during a press briefing, “Broadway is at the core of our New York identity, and a big part of our economy which employs countless performers and show creators, and beginning this September, the show will go on.”

In a statement the Broadway League said, “We look forward to reopening at full capacity and are working to safely welcome audiences and employees back to Broadway this fall.”
Tickets will be made available at 100% capacity with select productions going on sale beginning tomorrow for shows starting September 14th. So far the Broadway League said those productions expected to open on schedule include Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King and Wicked.
