“You’ve been waiting for this,” said Scarlett Johansson in a new Tweet from Disney.
She ain’t kidding.
We’ve been waiting for this movie ever since Tony snapped; that’s a long, long time.

And now, Johansson is asking fans, “How much do you really know about the elusive Natasha Romanoff?”
A new clip, posted on Twitter and on Marvel.com features Black Widow saying, “Before I worked for S.H.I.E.L.D., I made a name for myself…”
Johansson fills in some of the gaps.

“When it was time to assemble the Avengers, who did S.H.I.E.L.D. call?” asked Romanoff, rhetorically. “A former KGB assassin, agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Avenger, [Black Widow] fought through the Battle of New York, squared off against the Winter Soldier, defended the world against Ultron, and beat back the forces of Thanos.
“And when all seemed lost, she held the team together,” said Scarlett, who asked: “But, how well do you really know her? It’s time for her story,”
Setting the stage for that story, Christine Dinh posted on Marvel.com:
In the action-packed spy thriller, which launches simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access in most Disney+ markets on July 9, Natasha Romanoff confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.”
The Photos
Check out some photos from the film:

Scarlet Johansson is Black Widow. Image: Disney+.
We’ve followed the career of Natasha Romanoff from Iron Man II on; posing as an administrator at Stark Industries, she gained Tony’s confidence and was there when Ivan Vanko made his move against Iron Man.

Florence Pugh is Yelena Belova. Image: Disney+.
Yelena Belova is an unknown in the MCU. Florence Pugh plays a fellow assassin who acts like a sister to Natasha – when they aren’t sparring.

Black Widow vs. The Taskmaster. Image: Disney+.
Not much is known about The Taskmaster, who collects fighting techniques like Tony Stark collected tech.

Who is the Taskmaster? Image: Disney+.
Notice that Taskmaster channeled his inner Hawkeye in this photo.

Natasha and Yelena. Image: Disney+.
Natasha and Yelena look an awful lot alike, don’t they? Hmmmm.

Rachel Weisz is Melina Vostokoff. Image: Disney+.
Another mysterious character in the film’s cadre is the “mother” of the group, Melina Vostokoff.

David Harbour (Stranger Things) is Alexei, The Red Guardian. Image: Disney+.
Here is the guy I am most excited to see take the screen. Chief Hopper from Stranger Things traded his hat (and cell) for a Captain America-like costume. But he kept the beer belly and fatherly countenance.

The buddy movie genre (think Lethal Weapon) might just be turned on its ear in this one. However, rumors persist that the film might more resemble another cult classic… possible spoiler:

The Nicolas Cage, John Travolta vehicle, Face Off. Time will definitely tell.

Black Widow rolls into theaters on Disney+ on July 9.
