Orlando Makes the List of the 10 Most Popular Summer Vacation Spots for 2021
Want to know where everyone is going to be vacationing this Summer after being pent up in their houses for several months? If one of your guesses was Orlando, Florida, you are right! The central Florida city – and home to Walt Disney World – comes in at number two on the 10 most popular vacations spots for Summer 2021.

Now, that we know Orlando is the second most popular vacation destination for Summer 2021, let’s take a look at the other destinations making the 2021 Summer Travel Index put out by TripAdvisor. And, here’s a preview – you will see lots of destinations in Florida and Mexico!
Per TripAdvisor’s Summer Travel Index, the 10 most popular vacations spots for Summer 2021 are as follows:
- Cancun, Mexico
- Orlando, Florida
- Las Vegas, Nevada
- Key West, Florida
- Miami Beach, Florida
- Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
- Playa del Carmen, Mexico
- Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
- Tulum, Mexico
- Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Per that list, it definitely sounds like Americans are looking to do three things this Summer: visit Walt Disney World and other theme parks, relax on the beach, and/or gamble!
TripAdvisor complied the 2021 Summer Travel Index by polling 2300 customers as well as sifting through data on their website between the time frame of January 1, 2021 to March 26, 2021.
TripAdvior also found that 67% of Americans are looking to take a vacation this Summer. 43% plan to drive while 19% plan to fly. In addition, 73% of those who were surveyed said that they will stay domestic to travel while another 13% plan to take an international vacation in Summer 2021.
As a Travel Agent and consumer who has a few trips already booked for this Summer, I can definitely say the demand to vacation is back! I personally will be spending a week at Walt Disney World and another week in the Dominican Republic.
