CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: TRON Coaster At the Magic Kingdom
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog, you’ll know by now that the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover has officially reopened to the public. From atop the ride’s raised platform we were treated to awesome views of Tomorrow and Cinderella Castle. But, the real star of the show just now is the incredible work being done to the TRON Coaster.
Though no official open date has been given for this state-of-the-art attraction, the coaster is really coming together.
The giant white structure that you see is actually a canopy that will give guests the surreal feeling of soaring through cyberspace just like the characters in the Tron films.
You can also see the track making up the grey structure underneath. Guests will hope on board your very own light cycle before taking off on this incredible journey!
Every time we see the construction site, we are absolutely blown away by the sheer size and scale of the attraction.
It takes up a huge area of the park between Storybook Circus and Space Mountain.
Though the COVID-19 shutdown did set the project behind a bit, work has been moving steady since Disney World reopened last Summer.
Many of the photos we’ve shared with you in the past have been from The Barnstormer, but from the PeopleMover’s elevated track, you definitely have the best views of the work being carried out.
Just next to the construction site you can actually see the tracks for the Tomorrowland Speedway.
Once completed, the coaster will be similar to the Tron Coaster which has become a popular headlining attraction at Shanghai Disney.
The ride will take guests both indoors and outdoors for portions.
Disney has also previously teased that the Lightcycles for the attraction will hit speeds of up to 60 mph making it on par with Rock n’ Roller Coaster.
That will give the ride the distinction of being the fastest attraction in the Magic Kingdom!
Now that the PeopleMover has reopened, readers can expect more awesome updates from us on the progress of this incredible coaster!
We hope that as Disney World inches every closer to its 50th Anniversary Celebration which kicks off on October 1st, that we’ll here more news regarding TRON’s official opening date!
In the meantime readers are encouraged to keep following along with us for the latest news about this and other upcoming rides and attractions!
