New Classic Disney Characters Join “Disenchanted”
The movie Enchanted was released in 2007 and featured Patrick Dempsey, as the debonair Robert, and Amy Adams, as the very pretty, but very confused princess Giselle. The film follows Giselle as she tries to find her “Happily Ever After” in New York City.
Enchanted mixed live-action and animation as Princess Giselle left her fairy tale life in search of her one and only. Other actors in the original included James Marsden as Prince Edward, Susan Sarandon as Queen Narissa and Idina Menzel as Nancy. Julie Andrews also narrated the film which also earned 3 Academy Award nominations.
The Sequel
The much anticipated sequel Disenchanted was announced on Good Morning America in December. Patrick Dempsey confirmed both he and Amy Adams would return for the sequel. Also on board and confirmed are Idina Menzel and James Marsden. Alan Menken, who composed the music for the first movie, has also announced his return for the sequel.
The Characters
One of the charms of both Enchanted and Disenchanted is the use of animation turned live-action actors. The original film has Giselle starting as an animated character and when she enters New York’s “real-life” world some of her more fantasy aspects join her. Pip the chipmunk is one of them and he is also going to be back for Part II.
New Characters
The new film follows Giselle and Robert as they move to the suburbs and encounter a new kind of villain. Giselle casts a spell that back fires and all kinds of fun begins to happen. The DIS Insider has confirmed that “Snow White’s seven dwarfs- Grumpy, Happy, Sneezy, Sleepy, Dopey, Bashful, and Doc- will play a pivotal role in the film including a musical number.”
Viewers will have to wait and see how these wise dwarfs will counsel Princess Giselle because a release date has not been announced yet. Filming has started in Ireland, but it will most likely be a while before we get to see these seven little fellas in action.
