Sigourney Weaver Narrates An Orca Mother In ‘Secrets of the Whales’ On Disney+
Fans of actress Sigourney Weaver won’t have to wait until the next Avatar film to see the her back at work! New came out this week that she will actually be narrating one of the roles in the upcoming Disney+ documentary – Secrets of the Whales!
According to a recent report in PEOPLE Weaver will be narrating the story of a family of orcas living in the deep seas.
Its a sad tale of a mother Orca who is grappling with the passing of one of her children. Her response is to carry the dead calf by pushing it through the water. Orca mothers have been know to do this for days or even weeks.

Filmmaker Brian Skerry tells us, “It speaks to the complexity of these animals and their culture. They are very sentient beings, they’re highly evolved.” He continues, “They possess cultures that we don’t fully understand.”
You won’t want to miss this incredible documentary from National Geographic which took over three years to film and encompasses 24 locations from around the world.
The documentary was Executive produced by James Cameron making it less of a surprise that Weaver is involved. It centers around the relationships within whale communities including a rare discovery that beluga whales actually give each other names so that group can keep track of one another.
The National Geographic four-part special premieres on Earth Day, April 22 on Disney+.
