BREAKING NEWS: Mears To Offer New Shuttle Service When Magical Express Ends In 2022
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog, you’ll no doubt have heard the new news that Disney World decided to do away with its complimentary Magical Express airport shuttle service beginning in 2022. Mears new shuttle service is coming soon though!
Magical Express was a popular resort perk with onsite guests and was run in conjunction with Mears Transportation. The service undoubtedly took a hit during the pandemic with resorts closed or at limited capacity.
When Disney announced the termination of the service in January, it was suspected that the House of Mouse was working on an alternative way to get resort guests from Orlando International Airport to the Walt Disney World Resort, just without Mears Transportation as a partner.
Mears also chimed in that they had plans underway to offer Mears new shuttle service to guests. In a statement to Spectrum News back in January Mears spokesman Roger Chapin said, “Walt Disney made us aware of their decision.
While we are disappointed Disney will no longer offer this service, we intend to continue offering transportation services between the airport and all area theme parks and hotels to meet the demand of our visitors now and in the future.”
We may now have some idea of what that might look like! On the Mears Transportation website, they have a landing page for a new service called Mears Connect which will start taking reservations in 2021.
Though little information has been given on the service, there is a place where you can leave your email address to be notified of future updates regarding Mears Connect options. .
As you can see from the image above, Connect will aim to offer transportation to guests between the airport and Disney Resorts with “the same reliable, safe, express service.”
As of going to print Disney has yet to announce if they’ll have a Magical Express alternative ready by the start of 2022 and what that will be.
