Teen Rescues Drowning Child During Disney Vacation
There’s certainly nothing like going on Spring Break with your family and coming home a hero. That’s just what happened for 13-year old Kaydence Henslee.
According to Fox 46 news out of Charlotte, Kaydence was enjoying some pool time with her family when she spotted a small child unresponsive in the water.
That child turned out to be 3-year old Haven, whose mother, Ashley Williams had walked away from the pool area for a moment.
Kaydence’s quick instincts told her to get the little girl out of the water immediately and another heroic bystander nearby performed CPR on the unresponsive little girl.
Haven was rushed to the hospital and was awake and recovered by 5 a.m. the next day. She is currently doing fine and celebrates her fourth birthday this week. One we’re sure will be just a little sweeter for her family!
A news interview with the teenager shows her recalling the incident.
I just saw her kind of floating,” Kaydence recalled. “She wasn’t technically on the bottom when I was there. When I pulled her out, her lip was purple.”
The young lady is definitely being hailed as a hero, as doctors say the timing of Haven’s rescue was critical.
…if she would have been under the water a little longer, it would have been a different outcome,” Ashley said.
The heroic 13-year old is upping her game with CPR certification this week.
Kaydence’s dad appeared on the news report for an interview and her parents sure are rightfully proud of her! We here at MickeyBlog would like to give her a quick shout out for her bravery and quick thinking too!
