Main Street Confectionary Officially Closed- Main Street Cinema Serving Sweet Treats
Earlier this month, we here at MickeyBlog shared the news that Main Street Confectionary, the beloved sweet shop on Main Street USA was shutting down for a lengthy refurbishment.
Our MickeyBlogger was at the Magic Kingdom yesterday where it was the first day of the closure.
Though it was strange to see the shop, which is normally a bustle of activity all boarded up; some of the goods have been moved next door to the Main Street Cinema.
There are signs on the Confectionary windows directing guests next door to the Cinema.
As we previously reported, the merchandise in the Cinema has been moved over to Bonjour Village Gifts.
The Cinema now serves as a makeshift Confectionary.
We popped over to take a look at the goods and there were some candy apples and cotton candy on sale.
As well as a wall of non-perishable food items similar to what you’d find at your resort gift shops.
Popcorn which is a popular Confectionary purchase is available at the Cinema.
You’ll also find smaller items like lollipops and rice crispie treats!
They seem to be pulling inventory directly from the neighboring Confectionary.
As you can see from the image below, a locked door connections the two shops so that items can be replenished.
It’s not known when the Confectionary will reopen though Disney has hinted that the refurbishment could take several months. Its safe to say that Disney will want this iconic shop back up and running in time for their 50th Anniversary celebration October 1, 2021!
