Disneyland Reopening Capacity Likely to Increase as Orange County Moves Into Lower Risk COVID Tier
Getting tickets to Disneyland upon it’s reopening is going to be a task. However, getting your hands on the coveted reopening tickets for Disneyland is might of just become a little less challenging as it was just announced that Orange County, which is home to Disneyland, is set to move into a lower risk COVID tier beginning tomorrow, March 31, 2021 and thus possibly increasing park capacity.
As of today, March 30, 2021, Orange County and Disneyland is in the red tier. However, beginning tomorrow, it will be listed as an orange tier. Per the State of California’s reopening guidelines, theme parks are permitted to operate at 15% capacity in the red tier but 25% capacity in the orange tier.

In addition to limiting capacity numbers, the State of California is requiring all theme parks to restrict entry to those who are residents of the state. This will be a temporary measure as part of a phased reopening but there is no timeline when this restriction will be lifted.
As of today, Disneyland is scheduled to officially welcome Guests once again on April 30, 2021. Currently, tickets are not available for booking but should be at any time now.

In related theme park news, Universal Hollywood also announced that they will be reopening a few weeks ahead of Disneyland on April 16, 2021. They will also be operating at a reduced capacity.
Orange County changing from the red tier to the orange tier means more than Disneyland and other area theme parks operating an increased capacity upon their initial reopening. This also means that bars in the county can reopen with outdoor seating and other modifications and that bars are no longer required to serve food to be open. The capacity numbers for indoor seating and movie theaters will also be increased.
