Cara Dune Funko Pop! Vinyl Being Discontinued Following Gina Carano’s Firing
Unless you’ve been under a rock for the past couple of months, you will be aware of Lucasfilm’s decision to let go of Gina Carano following her controversial social media posts.
Following suit, it appears as though Funko has made the executive decision to discontinue the Cara Dune Funko Pop! Vinyl from The Mandalorian collection.
The news comes from Instagram user Dis.Pops, who received this message:

The news doesn’t come as a huge surprise, given that earlier this year artist Mark Raats told the public that Disney specifically requested him to switch the character of Carano’s Cara Dune with Ahsoka Tano in an art piece he designed.
Raats tells that Disney requested the change due to the overwhelming response that Ahsoka received in her introduction to the live-action Star Wars series.
It can only be speculated if Disney and Lucasfilm were planning on parting ways with Carano at this point in time, or if the decision was purely for the popularity of the Ahsoka v Cara Dune.
Funko is not the only company to discontinue Cara Dune merchandise, as Hasbro announced they would be doing so shortly after the announcement of the departing of ways between the two companies and the actress.
It is currently unknown what the fate of Cara Dune will be and how the showrunners of The Mandalorian will deal with the departure of Gina Carano.
Time will tell if we’ll be saying goodbye to the character of Cara Dune, or if the Lucasfilm will recast.
