Imagineer Zach Riddley Shares Awesome Details of Spaceship Earth’s New Lighting
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that as part of Disney’s incredible re-imagining of EPCOT, Spaceship Earth is getting a stunning luminescent makeover! After the sun goes down, this iconic Disney landmark will come to life in stunning hues. The globe is flanked by 12 flags of 6 different varieties representing the 6 different neighborhoods that you’ll find at EPCOT.

The new lighting for Spaceship Earth will debut on October 1, 2021, that’s the day that Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration kicks off and also marks the debut of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure!
As you can see from the images above, Zach shares images of one of many points of light that will illuminate from Spaceship Earth! Teams are starting at the top of the globed structure and our working their way down.

Once completed it will truly be something to behold! Imagineers have been hard at work innovating the design and technology to create a poetic and inspirational lighting concept!
Riddley says, “We’ve had to get quite ingenious in how we go about installing these new fixtures and all the high-tech systems so that they seamlessly integrate with the iconic profile of Spaceship Earth.”
This is just the beginning of EPCOT’s incredible new transformation which will see new attractions, eateries, entertainment, gardens and more! Trust us when we say that the finished product will be a real show-stopper!
