A 51 Year Old South Florida Man Was Arrested After Spitting On Cast Member During Mask Dispute

A 51 year old man from Palm Beach, FL was charged with a felony after he was accused of spitting on a Disney World Security Guard who asked him to wear a face mask.  This is according to an arrest report released Monday by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. 

Kelly McKin (pictured above) was charged with battery on a security officer according to a recent piece that appeared in the Orlando Sentinel

McKin denies spitting on the guard last month at an incident that took place at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. However, the guard identified the suspect from his long grey beard and moustache.  The incident occurred on February 5 when the guard said she confronted McKin over not wearing a mask on Disney property. 

According to the arrest report, the guard asked McKin to put on his mask and he said he would once he went inside.  She advised that the mask was required both in and out of doors on Walt Disney World grounds.  She then reports that the suspect told her to leave him alone and took a step towards here to spit on here. The arrest report goes on to say that saliva did hit the security guard on her left forehead. 

According to the security guard, she did now have a radio on her at the time and went to get backup at which time the suspect disappeared inside the hotel. 

“That was the last he was seen,” the arrest report said. The security guard then notified staff that she had been at risk of COVID-19 exposure and advised local authorities that she was willing to press charges against the man.

The following day the suspect was spotted on surveillance footage and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office went to the scene after Disney requested a trespass warning.  McKin was later arrested for trespassing on Disney property. 

It should be noted that even though a majority of guests abide by Disney World’s face mask policy without issue, there have been a few arrests in recent weeks related to the Resort’s health and safety procedures.
