An Alien Cinematic Universe for Disney?
Will Xenomorphs Invade Hulu Or Disney Plus?
The first film remains the stuff of nightmares.
In space no one can hear you scream.”
But whoever was within a square mile of this guy when I first watched Alien certainly heard me.
Aliens Coming to Hulu or Disney+
Now, it’s rumored that Disney and 20th Century Studios will more fully develop an Alien cinematic universe.
We’ve Got This Covered’s Scott Campbell reported:
So far, the only concrete plans regarding the future of the Alien brand is that Ridley Scott and Noah Hawley are set to executive produce and be heavily involved on the creative side of Hulu’s in-development series, which will be the first installment in the expanded franchise outside of the Predator crossovers to be set on Earth.
The announcement that Scott was taking the property to television cast doubt on his Covenant sequel status, which hasn’t been officially greenlit or canceled at this stage. The veteran filmmaker revealed that discussions had taken place over a third prequel last year, despite the disappointing box office and middling response to the last outing for the Xenomorphs. Still, it appears to have been placed on the back burner as the focus shifts to the TV series.
Luckily, we’ve had insider Daniel Richtman deliver a constant stream of Alien-related news to keep us occupied over the last several months, with the tipster now claiming that Disney is reportedly developing a cinematic universe for the iconic sci-fi brand.
Alien In Marvel Comics
Next, we know that Marvel has an Alien series coming to comics:
Moreover, there is no official word how that might connect to the items in the WeGotThisCovered.com report.
However, Campell added notes about the additional possibility of:
- An Alien vs. Predator series on Disney+.
- A James Cameron Alien project (featuring Sigourney Weaver?).
Now, that said, nothing is set in stone.
The Great Movie (Ride)
Finally, it’s not like Disney hasn’t worked with the Aliens franchise previously.
