Re-Release of Avatar Means It Now Outranks Avengers: Endgame at the Box Office
Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame has officially ended its run of the highest grossing film of all time thanks to the re-release of another box office Juggernaut- James Cameron’s Avatar!
With theater’s starting to reopen across the globe, exhibitors began rescreening Avatar this week in China. As a result the film surpassed Endgame as the biggest release ever! So the big question is, will Disney re-release Avengers: Endgame to heat up the competition?
The Avatar reissue proved profitable bringing in $8.9 million just one day into being re-released. Endgame had a $7.2 million lead over Avatar meaning that it was just enough for James Cameron’s film to eke out a win! The film will enjoy a limited run but is expected to be in Cinemas through at least Tuesday meaning that it has a few more days to lengthen its lead. And according to ComicBook.com pre-sales remain favorable for the film.
The current estimated total for Avatar globally is $2,798,579,794 (at this moment), and Endgame brought in $2,797,501,328.

So could we see Endgame re-released any day now? It’s hard to say, especially since the film has already had one re-release which took place the same year that it game out with additional bonus features. However, we expect that the highest-grossing film title is one that Marvel likes keeping within their Cinematic Universe so don’t be surprised if we come back to you with details on a Marvel re-release soon.
