Construction Update: Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Happy Wednesday Disney Friends!
MickeyBlog is on the scene at Disney’s Polynesian Village resort this afternoon where it is still a bustle of construction activity!
Last week we shared with our readers a first look at the awesome room renovations taking place at this beloved Deluxe Property.
The guests rooms are being completely revamped and will feature lots of touches inspired by the Disney film Moana.
In case you missed it, you can take a first look at what the finished rooms will look like here.
As you can see from these construction photos, guest room renovations are in full swing for a Summer 2021 Polynesian reopening.
Though you can still enjoy dining and our favorite gift shop – Bou-Tiki, the property is in a big state of flux at the moment with big changes to the guest rooms and main reception hall.
Construction signs featuring the always adorable Mickey can be found throughout the property!
Bulldozers were also digging up various areas in front of the ground-level guest rooms.
It looked like new plumbing was being laid during our visit.
Though it won’t be long before the Poly is back to its pristine tropical beauty, there’s still so much work going on just now!
Heading back over to the Main Ceremonial House, you can see that the decorative beams are back in place!
One of the major areas of renovation is the monorail station which picks guests up on the second level of the main hall.
As part of the renovations a new loading platform is being built.
This will include security screen for guests going directly from the Poly to the Magic Kingdom or EPCOT.
A new Porte Cochere is also being constructed.
The entrance to the Polynesian has always been a bit understated.
However, that’s all about to change with a new entrance that will really have that “Wow!” factor whether arriving by bus, monorail or car!
The work will continue inside with new lighting designed to enhance that mid-century modern Polynesian feel.
The monorail of course is still in operation.
During our visits, we always find it amusing to watch the trains speed along through an active construction zone!
You can see throughout these construction photos the expansion of the monorail platform at the property.
Wooden support structures are in place spanning the length of the front entrance.
You can really get a sense from these images what an elaborate renovation it truly is!
We absolutely cannot wait to see the finished product and have really enjoyed watching the work continue to progress on the site.
This is just one of many HUGE projects being carried out as Disney World readies for its 50th Anniversary Celebration.
The festivities will kick off on October 1st and go on for an incredible 18 months!
Due to the sheer size of the celebration and the new offerings that we suspect Disney will unveil, we expect crowds to really pick up over the next year. And with the Poly beautifully situated in close proximity to the Magic Kingdom this will be the GO-TO place to stay!
