Marvel: James Gunn Confirms Guardians 3 Filming in 2021
Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3 to commence production this year…
I’ve been waiting to see if there is more to this story and I hate using the word “confirm” (or reveals, rumored, etc.) in a headline. But, full stop, here is what James Gunn answered to the question: “Will Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 start filming in 2021?”
Yes.”
So, as we keep Han Solo’s immortal words in mind — “Well, short help is better than no help at all.” — we can all get excited about another adventure with Star-Lord and the gang.

Meanwhile, Fareid El Gafy, over at ScreenRant, put some perspective on the “story” and reminds readers that…
- Guardians 3 has a confirmed release date in 2023.
- Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer) believes the script was altered because of the change in Marvel’s release order.
The ScreenRant writer also correctly surmised:
What fans can be assured of is that Vol. 3 will be chock full of the same spirit that made the first two films smash hits. With Gunn behind the wheel, hilarity, action, and heart are sure to characterize the film. Gunn has formed part of a vanguard that is leading the way to a revival of the industry in the wake of the pandemic. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 entering production is good news for Marvel fans and movie fans alike.

And speaking of hashtags, and even though the feed has gotten James in trouble, it’s still a very good follow.
For instance:
I’d say hiring @DaveBautista on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1. The first thing Kevin Feige told me after seeing the first cut is how right I was about him. https://t.co/Bl487SSekN

I’ve definitely seen @vindiesel do more than 50 takes of one “I am Groot.” (BTW I was satisfied at 20 or so but Vin wasn’t happy). https://t.co/ZJIuY4EcwJ

And, rolling back Gunn’s timeline, I found this wonderful quote about writing:
I cry all the time while writing. I definitely cried when Yondu told Peter he was his father in Vol 2 & when Rocket gave in to being pet by Drax – I get teary just writing those moments now – but I cried many other times too. https://t.co/R38kJRzrvp

And, thinking about some of the wonderful, personal moments in both Guardians movies, I loved reading this:
I cry all the time while writing. I definitely cried when Yondu told Peter he was his father in Vol 2 & when Rocket gave in to being pet by Drax – I get teary just writing those moments now – but I cried many other times too.
Can’t wait for Vol. 3.
