Woman Completes 40,000 Piece Disney Puzzle Setting World Record
Maxine Olive of Belleville, Ontario, has recently set a record for completing a rather large puzzle in record time. She put together a 40,320 piece jigsaw puzzle in just under 150 hours. “The last known record for it was completing it in 423 hours, done by a gentleman down in the States,” says Olive. The puzzle features 10 sections that depict popular Disney characters and scenes.
In the 9 days it took Olive to complete the puzzle, she worked non-stop only stopping to eat, drink, and sleep. She even said she only took a 1 hour nap in the span of 2 days.
“By that last day it felt like everything hurt and my brain was turning to mush,” Olive says. “But I was so glad I did it and made it to the end.”
The puzzle was a massive 22 ft x 6 ft and weighed more than 40 pounds. Just from the sheer size of the puzzle, Olive had to take the puzzle down shortly after it was completed. It took up her whole living room! She even had to move tables and appliances to make space for it.
“I had never felt sad taking apart a puzzle until then,” jokes Olive.
Olive says she plans on submitting the video footage of her completing the puzzle to Guinness to apply for the official world record.
