Happy Birthday Anthony Daniels, C-3PO in Star Wars
One of my favorite people on the planet is having a big day.
Anthony Daniels — C-3PO in Star Wars — is celebrating a birthday.
The official Star Wars Instagram account posted:

And “Goldenrod” himself, answered:
Still standing after all these years!
I didn't expect to be so touched by the many sweet messages to mark this day, this landmark moment, from friends I know and many I don't. Thank you all for making this a rather special day, after all. pic.twitter.com/7JZR9GN4ed

Vulnerability Key to C-3PO’s Character
In a recent article, Daniels broke down a quality that endears his character to so many people. Unlike so many of the humans in Star Wars, C-3PO shows vulnerability.
CNET’s Connie Guglielmo asked:

C-3PO
You write that his character is really an exaggeration of a human, that “somehow the audience enjoys human emotions coming from a creature that is not actually flesh and blood, and the fact that he has no sense of humor, he finds human behavior hard to understand, is key to some of his anxieties.” But you made him so relatable to people. After all, he is a man, as you say, in a metal suit, or not a man in a metal suit.
Yeah, he’s immensely vulnerable in spite of all his pomposity and knowing everything. He’s very vulnerable. He’s not afraid. [C-3PO’s] careful. But he also feels responsible for humans that he’s attached to. One of my favorite aspects of him, which I feel and put into him, is his loyalty to his friends. And one of the joys of The Rise of Skywalker is that line about friends.

Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo), Poe (Oscar Isaac), Finn (John Boyega), Rey (Daisy Ridley) and C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) in STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER.
“At my friends….”
You can see that friends line in the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer below:
Finally, do you have a favorite Threepio moment in Star Wars?
Mine is when he breaks the fourth wall in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and says, “How typical!” when Han Solo closes a door in his face.
In the comments, be sure to tell us your favorite moment with the golden droid!
